Report: £12m-rated star rejects Leeds approach - The Boot Room

Goal have claimed that Ryan Kent has turned down the chance to move to Leeds United on loan this summer as he wants a permanent move. Liverpool want a huge £12million, and Leeds have got to look elsewhere.

The 22-year-old has cropped up on the radar of the Championship-chasing club after an excellent campaign north of the border with Rangers. Indeed, he scored six times and laid on nine assists throughout the 2018-19 season.

The Yorkshire Evening Post reported that Leeds were interested in signing the Oldham-born winger, who has already played for Barnsley and Bristol City in the Championship.

Now, Goal has claimed that Leeds wanted to sign the Liverpool star on loan until the end of the season. But Kent seems fed up of loans and has rejected the move, as he wants a permanent move or to fight for his Liverpool place.

Liverpool are said to want £12million if they are to let Kent go, but he has hardly shown the kind of form worthy of that figure. Yes, he has certainly impressed in Scotland, but there are things to consider.

The Scottish Premiership is a strong standard, and one that is constantly improving. But it is not good enough for the likes of Kent to have a successful season, but to then fetch a price tag of £12million.

That is a Premier League fee for a player that has shown he can impress against defenders far below that standard. For £12million, Leeds can do much, much better.

Leeds are desperate to sign wingers, with Manchester City’s Jack Harrison and Wolves ace Helder Costa also on their shortlist. But for an eight-figure fee, Leeds have got to ignore signing Kent and Victor Orta must look elsewhere.
